    A $39,000 grant from Hunger Is will provide food for thousands of Oregon children who don't get enough to eat. Oregon Food Bank was nominated for the grant by the managers of Safeway stores in Oregon and Clark County, Washington.

Ron Wyden chairs the Senate Finance Committee and could play a critical role in this legislation which would permanently put into place tax incentives for farmers and manufacturers to donate food to nonprofits.

    This September, Oregon Food Bank and Metro area governments will unite to raise awareness of the thousands of Oregonians who struggle with hunger. It’s part of a nationwide campaign in recognition of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month – a month-long campaign to help end hunger in our community.

    City and county governments will issue proclamations and community leaders and staff will volunteer at food repack events.

    Oregon Food Bank is alerting recipients of food through the Oregon Food Bank Network and associated partner agencies, pantries and community kitchens of a voluntary recall of almond butter and peanut butter due to a potential Salmonella contamination.

  • School Pantry Program to expand reach with funding from Portland Childrens Levy

    Many families in need of food assistance will have better access thanks to a recent decision by the Portland Children’s Levy (PCL) Allocation Committee. The committee voted to fund Oregon Food Bank’s School Pantry Program activities within the city of Portland in the amount of $1.282 million over three years. The committee’s decision was supported unanimously by the Portland City Council today, which votes on PCL funding recommendations. Seven school pantries are located in the city of Portland, with plans for 11 more within the next three years.
