Ford Motor Company Fund and Ford Dealerships have partnered with the Oregon Food Bank Network with a focus on child hunger. Last year Ford helped provide kid friendly foods which were distributed throughout the state. Funding was provided again to purchase kid specific foods such as milk, juice, cereal and applesauce.
Never settling on status quo, Ford asked, "how can we do more?" In addition to a $100,000 grant for statewide food, Ford is engaging their dealerships and the community. The first effort was a peanut butter drive at all the Ford Dealerships in the Pacific Northwest. The June Peanut Butter Drive raised over 10,000 lbs. of peanut butter for local area pantries. The second engagement effort will be during September Hunger Action Month. All Ford Dealership employees and families will be encourage to volunteer at a local food bank or pantry.
"This is a great example of a partnership in hunger relief. Ford is committed to childhood hunger relief efforts and came to OFB and asked how they can be a part of the solution. Together we are providing food, addressing the issue that children are vulnerable and need our help and engaging communities throughout the state in our effort. Thank you Ford Motor Company Fund and our Northwest Ford Dealerships." Sarah Schirmer, Oregon Food Bank's Corporate and Foundation Relations Developer.
