    Oregon Food Bank's two Portland-area locations hosted 616 volunteers for a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. In a single day, volunteers repacked 123,000 pounds of food, the equivalent of 102,514 meals - more food than is typically processed at Oregon Food Bank in an entire work-week!

    Corporate donor of the month: Bank of America

    Bank of America supports the fight against hunger on a national and local level, providing food, funds, time and relationships.

    During the holiday season, B of A partners with Feeding America to match donations made at ATMs. Last year, the effort added up to the equivalent of an additional 20,000 meals in Oregon and Clark County, Wash.

    Locally, Bank of America employees roll up their sleeves and get involved as volunteers, donating more than 700 hours to OFB last year. They also provide food and funds to help our mission through employee giving and food drives.

    Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon (Regence) has been instrumental in strengthening the internal structure of Oregon Food Bank and continues to be a powerful OFB Network partner.

    In July 2012 alone, Regence’s statewide food drive collected 610 pounds of non-perishable food, raised $2,572 in general support. In addition, Regence employees volunteered 293 hours at various agencies throughout the state.     Thank you Schnitzer Steel, OFB's corporate donor of the month

    What does a race car, a golf tournament, the Starlight Parade, The Waterfront Blues Festival, competitive food drives and 628 volunteer hours have in common? They are all ways in which Schnitzer Steel has supported Oregon Food Bank through Racing to Stop Hunger, its national charitable campaign.

    In the last fiscal year, Schnitzer, its employees and customers and the Racing to Stop Hunger Foundation have raised nearly $140,000 for Oregon Food Bank – enough funding to provide the equivalent of 725,000 meals for hungry people in our community.

And that’s just the support that came directly to Oregon Food Bank! Since Racing to Stop Hunger is a national effort, Schnitzer has partnered with local food banks in each area where it operates, including OFB, several regional food banks in the OFB Network and other food banks nationwide.

    IBM provides vital support to Oregon Food Bank each year, donating $494,000 over the last ten years and nearly $61,000 last year alone.

    Although IBM has supported OFB for many years, the company and its employees continue to find creative new ways to fight hunger.
