About Food and Fund and Drives

Where do I drop off donated food?
Drop off food at Oregon Food Bank, 7900 NE 33rd Drive in Portland or at 21485 N.W. Mauzey Road in Hillsboro. For a current list of other drop off sites, check Food Drop-Off Locations.

Do you have barrels to collect the food?
Oregon Food Bank can provide large (55-gallon, 3-feet high and 2-feet wide) barrels, marked with Oregon Food Bank's logo. Each barrel holds 125 to 150 pounds of food. Smaller barrels are available in Washington County. To make it cost-effective for Oregon Food Bank to deliver and pick up food-collection receptacles, your food-drive goal should be at least 300 pounds. This amount of food will cover the costs of running our trucks. A barrel will fit on the backseat of a car.

Do you have promotional materials I can use?
We have food-drive posters that list the most-wanted foods. Contact Raven Camara at rcamara@oregonfoodbank.org, and she will mail posters to you.

Where do I send contributions?
To Oregon Food Bank, PO Box 55370, Portland, OR 97238.

Do I need to let Oregon Food Bank know that I am having a food drive?
Use the Food and Fund Drive Barrel Request Form to let us know if you need barrels, boxes, posters or Oregon Food Bank's logo. Otherwise, please fill out a receipt when you drop off the food you collect. Or use the Food and Fund Drive Report Form in the Food Drive Kit when you send in monetary donations.

How does the food collected reach those in need?
Oregon Food Bank distributes food collected through food drives to a network of hunger-relief agencies such as Salvation Army, Outside In, St. Vincent de Paul, FISH Emergency Services and Blazers Boys and Girls Club. The agencies include pantries that distribute emergency food boxes, soup kitchens, shelters and other helping agencies.

An emergency food box provides a three-to-five-day supply of food for a family. In 2006-07, 37 percent of those eating from emergency food boxes were children under the age of 18.

Can I find out how much food my group collected?
Oregon Food Bank will send you a letter stating the weight of the food your group collected. Please give us your name and address for this purpose.

To whom do I write the check?
Oregon Food Bank

Will I receive a receipt for monetary donations?
Anyone making a monetary donation will receive a thank-you letter with the amount of the donation. If you want a receipt for cash donations, please put the cash in an envelope. Write the name, address and amount of donation on the outside of the envelope.
