Securities and real estate

Double income-tax benefits

Income-tax deduction
Appreciated stocks (securities) and real estate are among the best assets to fund a charitable gift. When you donate appreciated assets to OFB as an outright gift, you are entitled to an income-tax charitable deduction equal to the fair market value of the assets on the date of the gift, regardless of your cost basis.

No capital-gain taxes
The tax benefits don't stop there. There are no capital-gain taxes on the donated shares or real property.

Advantageous annual gift
Oregon Food Bank makes use of outright gifts of stock for general operating purposes. Many of our donors find a gift of stock or mutual funds an advantageous way to make a generous annual gift.

Let us know if you want us to make arrangements to direct your gift of stock toward OFB's quasi-endowment.

You can use securities and real estate as well as cash, to fund a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust. The combination of lifetime income and tax advantages may make these gifts vital parts of your estate and retirement planning.
