Join Fresh Alliance

Fresh Alliance provides meat, dairy and other nutritious fresh foods

What is Fresh Alliance?
Fresh Alliance addresses a key initiative of OFB's 2003-07 strategic plan: to increase meat, dairy and produce donations. It's an important program because it provides a previously untapped source of high-quality, nutritious food for people who are hungry.

Every weekday morning, OFB drivers pick up perishable food that is close to the time that it can no longer be sold from Fred Meyer, Albertsons, QFC, Wild Oats and Whole Foods stores.

Teams of volunteers working in OFB's Perishables Repack Room quickly sort and repack the food. Frequently, within 24 hours of the time the food leaves the store, it arrives at local hunger-relief agencies.

The program is expanding.
New stores are joining Fresh Alliance-- both locally and statewide. We expect the project to recover 1.5-million pounds of meat, dairy and other refrigerated products.
