National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive
May, 2010
Letter Carriers across the state will collect food donations as they deliver the mail. This one-day food drive raises more than 1-million pounds of food for hunger-relief in Oregon and Clark County, Wash. Help us meet this year's goal of 1.75-million pounds of food in one day by volunteering to help out.
Post office volunteers help box food as letter carriers bring donations back to post offices.
- Most shifts are from 2 to 6 p.m.
- Age 16 and up.
- Due to post office regulations, advance registration is required.
- Volunteers must be comfortable standing outdoors, bending and lifting.
Route volunteers assist postal carriers in picking up food along their routes. Volunteers use their personal vehicles to collect food and deliver it to the post office. OFB can not reimburse volunteers for mileage.
- Most shifts are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Age 18 and up.
- Required orientation session to be held Saturday, May 2, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
- Volunteers must provide a copy of their drivers license and proof of insurance.
