Eastside Learning Garden volunteer opportunities
Dig In!
Individuals and groups help tend the garden. Typical activities include weeding, watering, planting and harvesting vegetables.
- Individuals and groups of 10 or fewer
Attend weekly Dig In! volunteer shifts. All ages are welcome. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Shift schedule
Tuesdays 9 a.m. to noon, April through September
Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon, year-round
Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon, mid-March through mid-November
To volunteer:
Large groups of volunteers ages 10 and up are especially needed from April to June and from September to November.

Cultivating Community Mentors
Cultivating Community Mentors work with at-risk youth in the Learning Garden. Mentors must complete an application and training process and commit to volunteering in the garden twice per month for the gardening season.

Seed to Supper workshop presenters
Volunteers are needed to lead workshops on a variety of gardening topics. OFB provides workshop outlines, slides and handouts. Workshop leaders are expected to cover all information included in the workshop outline and to be comfortable enough with the subject to answer questions from participants.

Team leaders
Team leaders are needed to help lead large and small groups of volunteers in the Learning Garden. A commitment of four hours per month for the gardening season is required.
