About Us

Building communities that never go hungry

We believe food is a basic human right. And we believe that ending hunger requires a clear vision and bold action, with all of us working together. Learn more about our mission, our vision and how we are working toward change.

Group of people gathered for the Food for All Oregonians 2025 Advocacy Day in Salem on March 18, 2025.

Our mission

To eliminate hunger and its root causes… because no one should be hungry.

We cannot end hunger with food alone. That’s why we connect people with food while also working to change the conditions that lead to poverty.

Every day, we work to:

Provide nourishing food to everyone who needs it.

We collect and distribute food across Oregon and Southwest Washington to support anyone who needs food assistance. No documentation or proof of immigration status or gender identity is necessary.

Find support

Shape policies that will end hunger for good.

Together with our communities, neighbors, families and friends, we collaborate with elected officials and lawmakers to pass laws that make it easier for everyone to get the food they need.

Advocate with us

Support basic fairness and build bridges across differences.

We support local people and organizations working in communities that face housing discrimination, health disparities, barriers to safety net programs and financial challenges that make food hard to afford.

Ways to give

Our vision

We envision a future in which everyone in Oregon and Southwest Washington can get the food they need.

Hunger is not a personal choice, and it can’t be solved with food alone.

Together, we can make sure that everyone in our communities can rely on living wages, jobs, medical services and affordable housing, no matter where we were born or the language we speak.

We can come together across our differences to create a future where everyone has access to the food, support and opportunities we all need to thrive.

Why we support policies to end hunger

We can feed people who need help today, but people will still go hungry tomorrow if we don’t fix the bigger problems that make it hard to afford food.

Many of the causes of hunger are out of our control, such as housing discrimination, wage disparities, skyrocketing healthcare and childcare costs and barriers to food assistance programs.

Together with our communities, neighbors, families and friends, we advocate with elected officials and lawmakers to pass laws that help ensure everyone can afford food, and that food assistance programs are available to everyone who needs it.

Our commitment to equity and racial justice

Oregon Food Bank holds people experiencing hunger and food insecurity at the center of our actions and decisions. Our commitment to equity and racial justice shares our perspective on achieving equity and our promise to be led by people with lived experience of systemic oppression and food insecurity in a shared effort to eliminate hunger and its root causes.

We acknowledge that OFB has caused harm in the past by not fully centering people most impacted by hunger in our work and in the stories we tell. We acknowledge this with grief and humility, and understand we have much work to do.

Financial statements and reports

We are committed to transparency and to sharing our journey widely. Download our impact reports, financial statements and more for an inside look at how we’re working toward our vision.

The staff and volunteers at our network’s food pantries work tirelessly to provide fresh and nourishing food to everyone who needs it. But the lines keep getting longer. We also must address the systems and policies that keep people from having access to the resources they need to thrive. Until we do that, those lines will keep growing.
