ACTION ALERT: Ask Senator Merkley to finalize TEFAP increase

November 16, 2016 – Before the end of the year, Congress must make decisions regarding next year’s federal budget. Among those decisions will be the funding level for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). TEFAP is an important part of our food supply and operations budget.

Thanks to the efforts of Senator Jeff Merkley, and advocates like you, last year we were able to increase TEFAP storage and distribution funds. This was the first increase in many years.

Now we have an opportunity to increase both TEFAP food purchase and storage and distribution assistance. In Oregon, this would mean enough food for more than 300,000 additional meals and $65,000 to help store and distribute food.

Please contact Sen. Merkley to thank him for his past efforts and to urge him to seek additional increases this year. Personalize the message that appears here and tell Sen. Merkley why ending hunger is important to you.
