Inside the Network: Ontario Branch

Based in Ontario, Southeast Oregon Services provides food to 33 partner agencies in Malheur and Harney counties. In addition, Southeast Oregon Services supports 6 local programs, including summer food programs for children as well as other supplemental programs. It is one of the five Oregon Food Bank locations in addition to a statewide network of 21 regional food banks and more than 1,400 food assistance sites.

“I love my job. I love what I do. I love that we provide for the community in both Malheur and Harney County. ”
– Sheila Hiatt, Branch Services Manager

“Our community does work together and wants to help people.”

“We’re actually one of the poorest counties in the state so I feel like we probably have a lot more people that need the food. Most of our clients – they would not have any food if we weren’t there.

“We could not do what we do without Oregon Food Bank. They want the clients to receive the food just as much as we do.
– Nora Bean, Next Chapter Pantry Manager

“We’re working on the root causes of hunger so that we are not just about getting people food today, but we’re about putting ourselves out of business and creating a world in which hunger never happens.”
Susannah Morgan, CEO Oregon Food Bank
