Food for All Oregonians Passes Committee Vote with Eligibility Updates

Today, the Senate Human Services Committee voted to pass Food for All Oregonians (Senate Bill 611)! This is an important first step for our bill to become a law in Oregon this legislative session, and it brings us closer to a future where everyone can access the food we need. We're thankful to Senators Sara Gelser Blouin, Floyd Prozanski and Lisa Reynolds who voted to pass Food for All Oregonians out of committee.

Now, lawmakers are making final decisions on whether to pass Food for All Oregonians. These next two months are critical to crossing the finish line. It's time to turn up the pressure to pass Food for All Oregonians this session!

This milestone is possible because of YOU. Together, we’ve shown our lawmakers that every Oregonian deserves access to food assistance – regardless of our immigration status.

  • 250+ advocates traveled to the state Capitol for Advocacy Day

  • 475+ people shared testimony in support of Food for All Oregonians

  • Thousands of emails urged lawmakers to support the bill

We also want to let you know that the legislature has decided to focus Food for All Oregonians on expanding food benefits to young children ages 0-6 — an important step toward making sure kids in Oregon have the nourishment they need. This isn't the full progress we had hoped for, and we know this is a hard update for many who have been working toward food access for all. The Food for All Oregonians coalition will keep advocating until every Oregonian can access the food we need to thrive.

Our next step: Oregon’s budget committee, called the Ways and Means Committee, is traveling across the state to hear directly from community members. This is our chance to show up and let them know we need Food for All Oregonians.
