Inside the Network: Creating a World In Which Hunger Never Happens

At Oregon Harvest Dinner, our annual fundraising event, we shared stories of lived experiences from community members, and voices of those working to eliminate root causes of hunger, from legislative action and fighting systemic inequities, to nutrition education and community support.

Inside the Network is one of those stories. Check it out above to hear from our CEO, Susannah Morgan, and our colleagues across the state – from Portland to The Dalles to Ontario – on the Oregon Food Bank Network’s response to the pandemic and our collective role in ending hunger and its root causes.

"Oregon Food Bank’s mission is to eliminate hunger and its root causes. Some people interpret root causes to mean poverty. But I would argue poverty itself has a root cause, and it is systemic inequities. When we look through the history of our country, we see that the people in poverty are people of color, they are trans folx, they are immigrants, they are women with small children and single moms… We can’t solve hunger until we solve those inequities." – Susannah Morgan, CEO
