June 2024 Community Cultivator: Safeway Albertsons

Oregon Food Bank is thrilled to share that Safeway Albertsons has been selected as our Community Cultivator for June 2024!

Safeway Albertsons believes that everyone should be welcome at the table. Over decades of partnership, Oregon Food Bank and Safeway Albertsons have formed a collaborative alliance to serve the entire Oregon Food Bank Network of 21 regional food banks and over 1,400 sites where anyone can access free, nourishing food.

• Rural, urban and suburban communities benefit from Safeway Albertsons’ contribution of thousands of pounds of premium groceries through the Fresh Alliance Program.

• As a key sponsor of the KGW Great Food Drive, supporting the Bloom Challenge Match with a $50,000 gift, and an annual holiday register campaign Safeway Albertsons leverages the community's generosity towards ending hunger.

• Employees of Safeway and Albertsons volunteer with Oregon Food Bank and our regional food banks — giving their time to support food security.

• When a disaster strikes, such as wildfires that threaten homes and displace our neighbors, Safeway Albertsons provides water donations and other critical needs.

Community Cultivators are resourceful leaders who support food justice and Safeway Albertsons is here to ensure all our communities' tables and pantries are full so that our neighbors can learn, grow and succeed.

During Summer 2024, between June 5 and July 2, customers of Safeway and Albertsons can support the Bag Summer Hunger program by purchasing a virtual bag of food that will be donated to Oregon Food Bank in the form of pallets of food such as beans, soup, corn and pasta! Please visit your local Safeway and Albertsons stores to donate!
