The 19th Annual Great Food Drive Starts Today

Join KGW and partners to help our communities #EmergeStronger from COVID-19 and end hunger at its roots.

As many as 1 in 4 Oregonians faced food insecurity as the pandemic began to take its toll. More than 1.7 million people sought emergency food assistance through the Oregon Food Bank Network in 2020 — roughly double the number we see in an average year — with over a million people accessing resources in 2021.

Fortunately, there has been an incredible government and community response to this surge in economic insecurity. Our combined efforts worked: together, we were able to prevent hunger from becoming another symptom of COVID-19 throughout 2020 and 2021. Yet we remain in the midst of a hundred-year flood of need throughout our region — with an even heavier impact in communities that have faced hunger and poverty for generations.

So we can’t afford to slow down in our response to this crisis. Your support fuels our network of 1,400 dedicated and resourceful community-based partners — pantries, free food markets and meal sites — that have ensured that nutritious food remains available. Your action powers our efforts to advance meaningful public policies that address the root causes of hunger. And together, we can emerge stronger from this crisis and end hunger for good.
