Tell Legislators: Fund Vital Services, Not More Tax Giveaways for the Wealthy!

It’s no secret that our state faces serious revenue shortfalls due to the ongoing pandemic — and the legislature will soon meet for a special session to make tough budget choices. Their current proposals include millions of dollars in cuts to vital programs like Farm-to-School and income assistance for struggling families (TANF).

It doesn’t have to be this way. Legislators can prevent harmful cuts to these critical initiatives by acting to STOP proposed tax breaks for the wealthiest Oregonians.

Right now, thousands of families are in crisis throughout the region.

  • New estimates from Oregon State University show that food insecurity has doubled since the start of the pandemic.
  • The state Department of Human Services reports that 120,000 more people needed SNAP (sometimes called food stamps) in June when compared to February.
  • On average, we’ve seen a two-fold increase in demand across our network of 1,400 pantries and meal sites.
We can’t let more tax giveaways jeopardize programs that ensure Oregonians have access to food, housing and other critical resources. Now more than ever, our communities need support as we work together to make it through this crisis.

Join us in urging legislators to stop these tax giveaways and protect programs that help our communities #EmergeStronger!
