Food for All

January 23, 2017 –

Dear Hungry Neighbor,

We want you to know that, no matter what is happening in our country, you are welcome. You are welcome at Oregon Food Bank and throughout our partner agencies. You are welcome to food assistance.

The United States of America is experiencing some of the biggest political protests in a generation. Most have been peaceful, some have not. There have been messages of love and of hate. This is a time of great change and, for some, great fear.

But at Oregon Food Bank we care about one thing above all – that you are nourished. We want you and your family to have three healthy meals today and tomorrow and the next day.
So we want you to know that:

  • Whether your skin is white, black or brown, you are welcome to food assistance.
  • Whether you practice Christianity, Islam, Judaism, another religion or none, you are welcome to food assistance.
  • Whether you live in a rural or urban community, you are welcome to food assistance.
  • Whether you voted for Trump, Clinton, someone else or no one at all, you are welcome to food assistance.
  • Whether you are legally a citizen or not, you are welcome to food assistance.

We welcome you – no matter who you love, what you think, what you look like, what your gender is, what you believe. You are our neighbor – and neighbors take care of neighbors.

Please, let us help you put nutritious food on the table.

Sincerely,

Susannah Morgan
CEO, Oregon Food Bank
