Our Work Doesn’t End with Hunger Action Month

by Susannah Morgan, CEO

Today is the last day of Hunger Action Month!

Here we are, at the end of September — the end of Hunger Action Month. What a month it has been…

This month, Oregon has been ravaged by wildfires and we’ve seen our community respond together to protect our neighbors. And yet, our work to help communities recover from wildfires is just beginning.

This month, we have continued to endure a pandemic and its economic fallout and collectively wrapped our arms around our communities. And yet, our unprecedented effort to emerge stronger is ongoing.

And this month, we have been working hard with Congress to try and secure additional help for families facing hunger. And yet, we know our vision for hunger-free communities requires fundamental, long-term change that is years in the making.

So, it’s not too late to take action. In so many ways, the end of Hunger Action Month is only the beginning of our work together.

There is so much you can do TODAY to make a difference.

So, on this final day of Hunger Action Month, I hope you’ll join me at oregonfoodbank.org/hungeractionmonth

This month was just the beginning of the work that we will be doing for years to come as we work together to build resilient communities that never go hungry.

Because together, we can emerge stronger from this crisis — and make real progress in our fight to end hunger for good.

I’m beyond grateful for all you’ve done throughout September — and for everything I know you’ll continue to do in the weeks and months ahead.
