We Need Farmworker Overtime Now!

Ensuring fair pay and rights for all Oregon residents is critical to our mission to end hunger at its root causes. We have less than two weeks left to make sure state leaders pass important legislation that guarantees these rights for Oregon farmworkers and we need your help.

Will you please take two minutes to send an email to urge legislators to pass farmworker overtime now?

Yes! Send Me To The Form!

Our food system is anchored by more than 175,000 migrant and seasonal agricultural workers — the people who grow, harvest and distribute our food. They have braved a pandemic, wildfires, record-breaking heat and hazardous air quality to ensure locally grown food reaches our table. Despite this, they remain some of the lowest paid workers in all of Oregon. Most make $25,000 or less per year — not even half the average income statewide — leaving many to face food and housing insecurity.

Fortunately we have an easy way for you to take action right now!

In less than two minutes, you can make a difference by making sure our legislatures know that you support these essential workers. Just click here to make your voice heard!

Elected leaders tell us all the time that hearing from local residents has a huge impact on how they vote — and our online form makes it easy to share your support with a few quick clicks or taps.

We’re proud to hold people experiencing hunger at the center of our decisions at Oregon Food Bank. People who are immigrants and refugees already face disproportionate food insecurity in our communities — at double the rate of people born in the United States. This reality is unacceptable.

Too many agricultural workers who ensure we can feed our families don’t earn enough to provide for their own — and countless more can’t afford to miss a single day of work, even if it puts their health at risk.

It’s far past time for Oregon to join states across the country and include agricultural workers in overtime protections and pay.

We hope you will join the thousands of neighbors across the state who are making their voices heard.

Take action on this legislation and the rest of our anti-hunger policy agenda today at oregonfoodbank.org/advocate.

With your support, we have a real opportunity to emerge stronger from this crisis and put us on the path to ending hunger for good
