Erin explains why Feeding the Future is important

June 5, 2017 – “I know from experience food insecurity is real. I myself am a single income household of five and contributed to the support of four other children.

Once the necessary bills are paid that did not leave much room for groceries. Many think a food pantry is only for the homeless. That’s just not the case these days. Many are veterans, elderly, parenting adults or youth. It could be your next door neighbor. Hunger has no face.

I have met many people with jobs in the same boat as I was at food banks. We all needed just a little help so our little ones had three complete meals each day and we did not have to choose to feed our children or ourselves.

The help from Oregon Food Bank has given us hope and reminded ourselves we could still provide for our children. I am grateful Oregon Food Bank was there for my family when we needed them.”

Once again, IKEA is holding its annual Feeding the Future promotion throughout June. For every healthy kids meal purchased, IKEA will donate $1 to Oregon Food Bank. You can also make a donation to Oregon Food Bank when you are checking out in store or online.
