Six local companies that raise the bar on employee-giving campaigns

January 25, 2018 – There are many ways companies can focus their philanthropic efforts. One easy, yet high-impact, approach is to coordinate an employee-giving campaign. In 2017, many local companies chose Oregon Food Bank as the beneficiary of their good will.

Here are just six that set the bar high to help end hunger in Oregon:

  1. Regence
In addition to corporate financial support, Regence encourages their employees to be active participants in their community. As an incentive, the company’s foundation matches donations 50% to increase each employee’s impact, for a total contribution from Regence and Regence employees of over $64,000.
  2. The Standard
For the first time, The Standard Insurance and Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company both matched dollar-for-dollar donations made by employees furthering the impact on Oregon Food Bank. A total of over $78,000 was raised to help address the root causes of hunger.
  3. Portland General Electric
PGE highlighted Oregon Food Bank as an organization to donate to that resulted in employees giving over $75,000 last year.
  4. Walsh Construction
Supporting Oregon Food Bank for over 30 years, Walsh Construction illustrated its commitment by featuring Oregon Food Bank as one of its charities. Collectively, employees donated over $40,000 with their company match in 2017.
  5. Nike
Last year, Nike and its employees contributed more than $200,000 of support for Oregon Food Bank through their matching employee giving campaign.
  6. Intel
Last year, the Intel Foundation matched its employees generous donations dollar-for-dollar. Altogether, employees and Intel donated an incredible $285,000 to help end hunger in Oregon.

No matter the size of donation, employees and their employers know they are making a difference for our neighbors in need.

“Caring about people is a core value of our business and our commitment to the community,” says Bob Speltz, Senior Director of Public Affairs at The Standard. “Our employees reflect this value by giving to organizations, like Oregon Food Bank, that are committed to creating strong and vibrant neighborhoods, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. The company matches that commitment dollar-for-dollar because we believe we can make a real difference in the communities we call home.”

From small business to big companies, we are grateful for the support of these community business partners and their enthusiasm for feeding the human spirit.
