Take Action! Sign our petitions to end the government shutdown

January 16, 2019 – At Oregon Food Bank, we hold the people we serve at the center of all we do. That’s why we’re deeply concerned about the federal government partial shutdown. The shutdown leaves 800,000 federal employees without paychecks. We encourage people going without income during the shutdown to seek help from the Oregon Food Bank Network. Please visit oregonfoodbank.org/findfood.

SNAP (food stamps) and other programs are still operating. People should apply for, and use, benefits. But a continued shutdown will threaten SNAP benefits in March. Currently, 615,000 Oregonians use SNAP to help them have enough food to eat.

The administration and congressional leadership must end this shutdown. President Trump must stop saying hateful things about immigrants. He must sign a budget that re-opens parts of the government unrelated to the border. The shutdown is harming the millions of Americans who struggle to make ends meet.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

Petition to Senator Mitch McConnell

Please sign the petition below to urge Sen. McConnell to bring budgets to the Senate floor for a vote to send to the president for final passage.

Petition to Representative Greg Walden

Rep. Walden bravely voted for bills that would end the shutdown. He recognizes that the immigration discussion should not impact the passage of the federal budget. If you live in his district, please sign the petition below to thank Rep. Walden for his vote.
